How About An Indoor Herb Garden

Like many people before you, you may have liked the idea of growing herbs, whether for cooking or for their aesthetics. If, again like many people, your space is limited, then perhaps what you need is an indoor herb garden. Although commonly the windowsill is the place of choice for an indoor herb garden, do not think that this is the only place you that you can have one. You can have an indoor herb garden in any place your imagination lets you. The only limitations being the need for light and perhaps just as importantly an area away from children or animals. Next, think about which herbs you will grow, bearing in mind that some can become quite large very quickly and will eat up any space you may have.

Not all plants grow well together in an indoor herb garden and some will hybridize quickly resulting in plants that are neither one nor the other. Two of these that come to mind are Oregano and Peppermint.

When choosing your plants, bear in mind that different herbs can be used for different purposes, for instance, are you going to use them in a Potpourri? Maybe, though more than likely it will be for their uses in cooking. Imagine yourself adding a piece of mint to you steaming Potatoes or covering you Sunday Roast Chicken with Oregano grown in your own indoor herb garden.
